Over 20 years ago I began doing leather work in 4-H. While everyone else was doing horses on their belts I did turtles. Why? The belt was for me, not the horse. I have followed this idea in all of my design work. The piece is for the person who will wear or use it and should be pleasing to them.
Designing a new piece for an individual, or personalizing an idea that I have perviously developed, is a creative challenge I consider a gift from the person who orders a custom piece. The creative process is a joint effort between the myself and the person who orders it.
